Origami (折り紙), from ori meaning “folding”, and kami meaning “paper” (kami changes to gami due to rendaku) is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word “origami” is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin. The goal is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques.

When Sappho sits quietly at home, she folds paper. Now she wants to share some of her creations. On April 16, join her at Museum of Modern Life to check it out. There will be wine, there will be cheese, there will be music by DJs Buckmaster, the artist formerly known as ShaChristmas LaMiracle and Sappho.
